Went with my two beautiful friends last night to see Flight of the Conchords at Nokia Theatre in Dallas, TX. The show started off with Eugene “The Jewish Landlord” doing a skit that I almost enjoyed as much as the show itself. After the show we headed to The Palladium to meet up with Vega who was opening for Shiny Toy Guns. By the time we got there Vega had already finished their set so we kicked it with them backstage. I got a chance to interview the band regarding the entire Crystal Castles drama that went down at The Granada a few weeks back. All I can say is the story was priceless. Jason Faries from Vega was wearing a Crystal Castles shirt as a joke last night during his show which I traded with him for the shirt I was wearing. After the Palladium we all headed to Fallout lounge where Alan Palomo from VEGA was doing a DJ set. All in all a good night — for a Tuesday…

Flight of the Conchords: Dallas,TX

What a weekend. Friday was kick-started with the second night of Mallori Morris’ art show, “Desnuda Debut.” Hoyotoho played a few tracks at the event for the old folks — whose eyebrows were raised the entire time. After the show the gang dashed off to the W where Wade and Asha hooked us up big for the Miss Sixty/Energie fashion show at Ghostbar. Luckily I was able to convince them into letting Hoyotoho play a surprise guest-DJ spot the for last 45 minutes and they rocked the house! The beautiful models were doing their thing all night and I am officially in love with roughly 7 of them.

Saturday Gilberto and I saw The Kills at The Granada which was a very entertaining show. The venue was a bit more relaxed than usual but that was probably due to the suicide music being played. Overall though, a sexy show indeed so I give The Kills 4 out of 5 skulls for their onstage energy/chemistry as seen in the video below.

The ultimate hipster at The Granada

Great lineup of shows this next week at The Granada in Dallas,TX. Tonight: Ladytron and The Faint will be performing – doors open at 7. I saw Ladytron with Dagnushka a few years back in Denton and they absolutely killed it.  On Saturday 4/25 The Kills will be performing but I have heard mixed reviews on their live performances. Last but not least, next Monday Black Kids will be playing and I can almost guarantee every hipster and his mother will be in attendance and drinking PB&R’s. I will probably not make it to all the shows so feel free to post your reviews and comment.

Gilberto and I were on our way to see Crystal Castles last night at The Granada in Dallas when a friend messaged me to say the show was cancelled due to a fight. Supposedly the band that went on before, Vega, started some shit with the duo – enough to call off the show.

Luckily they will be playing Coachella this Friday night (8pm). On a side note Gilberto and I are still desperate and are looking for some love. Artist passes anyone?

The show was cancelled because the venue owner got too worried they would blow the sound system after hearing their sound check. Apparently, CC management and the Granada management spent hours arguing over whether or not to let them play. Hell, in the line I could here them running tests over and over.

Anyway, the guys from the band personally walked down the last half of the line outside. Apologized and explained what was going on.

As anticipated the show was jam packed with nearly every square inch of space occupied with a body. Cut Copy delivered a high energy performance that had Dallasites and local hipsters jumping up and down for more. Gilberto and I started the show up front nearly a few feet from the stage, and finished up the the concert up-top on the balcony watching the last few song with some friends.

After the show Gilberto and I headed up the street to The Cavern to grab a few drinks and where I spent most the night on the phone in a dirty broom closet. All in all it was a good show and a definitely a fun night. Next up on the list: Mstrkrft on Friday, March 20, 2009 at The House of Blues: Dallas, TX

Gilberto and I will be at The Granada tonight to watch ‘Cup Copy’. I missed the concert the last time they were here so I’m excited I get to see them tonight. The hipsters will be out in full effect with their converse and skinny jeans and I will have my camera and flask in hand.  Check back tomorrow for photos and more.
