Highsnobiety.com — a source for very cool shit, very ridiculously over-the-top (read: gay) shit, and finally, very dope and dreamy shit that I wish made some kind of financial sense. Take for example these clear shoe boxes from HUPBOX.com that The Doc put me on. They are AMAZING, but the only problem? At $40 a pop you may as well go buy a pair of brand new classic white Chucks instead of a single shoe box. I’m thinking of buying one, booking a flight to China, shopping it to various factories, getting my own version made, and selling ‘em for $5 each… coming soon, to your nearest The Container Store: the GILBERTOBOX!

After Sir Paul McCartney at Cowboys Stadium tonite, Gilberto will be flying home to LA tomorrow for a short weekend with the family and homeys. Got a few items on the agenda, including dinner at the newly re-opened BOA, scoping out the doc’s new pad (complete with housewarming gift), and Friday night I will finally be heading to new Hollywood hangout Playhouse.

Above is the stupid billboard that greets me every damn time I exit the 405 off Santa Monica. I mean, c’mon…who says that?

Summer White Sneaker Medley For That A$$

Summer is upon us — and summer means three things to Gilberto: skirts, icy cold beer, and of course, white tennis shoes. The first two are self-explanatory: girls are always sluttier (read: sexier) in minis and beer should only be served when the proverbial mountains turn blue. White sneaks? They are the one must-have trend that doesn’t warrant much consideration. Crisp, clean sneakers can complement anything and this footwear essential always looks absolutely at home.

(Ironically enough, as I started putting this silly post together the weather had been in the mid-90′s for over a week, my tan was kicking, and clean white sneaks seemed to have solidified their position on my feet for the next several months…then, in true Dallas fashion, we get hit with severe and incessant thunderstorms for the next 20 hours!)

NOT COOL: Marko Jaric Accused of Sexual Assault

This man is Marko Jaric, an NBA journeyman (see: SCRUB), that currently resides somewhere on the Memphis Grizzlies bench. Now I don’t want to jump to conclusions, this is just an accusation, and we are all innocent until proven guilty. But let me show you what’s not cool about this situation. Meet Adriana Lima (below). She is Mr. Jaric’s wife. This bares repeating. Marko Jaric married Adriana Lima. A month ago. If you follow sports, this would be like winning the Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup, NBA Championship and the Triple Crown (just for good measure) all in the same year. Guess what else Mr. Jaric did this month? Possibly sexually assaulted a girl in Philadelphia. Let me share a small fact with you: this girl, whoever it was, was NOT as ridiculously over-the-top sexy as his wife. How dare he? This fucking guy is the loser of the century. I don’t care how this turns out. But in case you were wondering I hope: the charges are true, he goes to jail, gets raped (multiple times) and gets divorced while in her sorrow, Adriana meets a tall handsome self-proclaimed ‘doc’tor and the two live happily ever after.

What can I say? I’m a romantic.

You just can’t compete with a beer machine that tilts itself, pours itself and measures out exactly two fingers worth of foam for itself. Plus notice the lil’ sign that reads “Draft beer glasses are in the refrigerator” Thank you lil’ sign, thank you very much.

I know the angle is kind of bad, but trust me on this one, the sink literally comes up to my knees. At first I thought it might be the inordinate amount of Sake i had consumed, or possibly my restaurant shared a bathroom with a local elementary school, but then i remembered I was in Japan and that the people of Japan are adorable, and small. I, on the other hand have never felt bigger or fatter. Thank you lil’ sink, thank you very much.

I’m not gonna lie, I felt bad for this guy. He was still alive, but his tail has been removed and served as sashimi right next to him! He could see it for Christ’s sakes! As long as I’m being honest, it was delicious. Like butdah (that’s for you Des).

Every hotel has them, but even the public toilets in the Narita (Tokyo) Airport have the Toto Washlet system. If you are not familiar with the Toto system, let me quickly educate you on the worlds greatest toilet. Heated seat (amazing for middle of the night and early morning), massage function, deodorizer, front spray for the girls, back spray (soft and hard, with oscillating option) for the boys (’cause everyone knows girls don’t go #2) and a dryer to finish your experience off. I’m going to state a simple fact, and don’t even attempt to argue with me on this: If you have not had your butt sprayed by a toilet, you have not lived. Thank you Toto butt sprayer, thank you very much.

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto Tokyo…it was a blast. See you in 6 months.

OK, so it is usually the doc’s responsibility to show you what’s good but this Valextra bag currently being sold at Barney’s is made out of soft-grained calf leather and is unreal. It’s sure to turn heads at the airport and at a price tag of $2,560 you will undoubtedly be the only one sporting it.

Cool Kicks: Superga Spring/Summer 2009

The doc has been slipping lately, but I am working to rectify this…NO MORE LATE POSTS!!! I had a few from the vault that I wanted to put up, but I kept coming back to these as the clear cut “late post” winners. They are just perfect in every way. From the combo of Calf and Suede to the wingtip design and the brown sole, you just can’t go wrong….well except maybe for the price which rounds in at a hefty $850. Looking good don’t come cheap.
