The disparate photographs assembled here were made over the course of twenty years. None of them were originally intended to be used in this book. By ordering and shaping them I tried to investigate the possibilities of narrative both within a single image and especially in relation to the other photographs. A Storybook Life is an attempt to discover the possibilities of meaning in the interaction of seemingly unrelated images in the hope that content can constantly mutate according to both the external and internal condition of the viewer, but remain meaningful because of it’s inherent, but latent content. The conscious and subconscious decisions made in editing the photographs is the real work of A Storybook Life.  -Philip-Lorca diCorcia

After spending the majority of my morning behind the computer I decided to meet up with a friend and cruise around town. Our first stop: Opening Ceremony, one of my favorite places to shop whether in LA or NYC. As soon as I walked in I was struck by this beautiful half-naked girl who I could have sworn I recognized from somewhere.

After walking around for a little and going upstairs to Suite 12 trying to find that perfect item for Coachella my friend broke it to me that the half-naked girl was actually Mischa Barton. (Yawn). To be honest, I could care less except that I had to wait behind her to pay at the register. Thank God for the fact that little Hilton was there walking around because I was about to lose it and punch Ms. Barton in the face after having to hear her whiny comments. The girl would not shut up about the paparazzi catching her picture sporting some stupid cream bag that’s worth blah blah blah and how shes normally doesn’t wear blah blah blah and how she is going to get paid for it. As if I’m not already annoyed I had to wait behind her as the girl’s stupid credit card got declined for $7,000! Thinking I couldn’t take it any longer I eventually escaped from the store to avoid her shit. Total buzz kill I tell you. On a good note however I did get some sick shorts and a t-shirt that now that I think about it, is pretty lame. It reads: “Trashin’ ON THE NORTH SHORE IS NOT RAD”. Just another day in sunny LA.

I’m in NYC this weekend and had some of the best sushi ever at Sasabune; the wasabi was like butter and the fish literally melted in my mouth. I headed to Southside after to get my dance on and to meet up with some old friends. Tonight I will be going to the David Byrne show at Radio City Music Hall as always I will keep you posted. Its a Jeep and and meant to be rugged so ill just not mention it to anyone and play it off like it was already there… Sorry Sash! I will be headed to NY next weekend and as always will keep you posted on my endeavours.

Honestly I can’t think of another film other than Dark Knight that has gotten me as tingly in the past year as “Notorious” (1/19/2009). This film charts the rise of none other than Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G. From hustlin’ the streets…to sold out seats, Biggie Smalls was the illest. You may even be familiar with some of the drama surrounding the lead role for the film whereby unknown actor Jamal Woolard (above) landed the lead after extra-hard (and questionable) pushes by Beanie Siegel and Sean Kingston–the latter even going as far as having his camp falsely leak info that he had landed the role already.

That said, who better to usher in Biggie’s rags-to-Moet story than Brooklyn’s Finest himself, Young Hova. The first single off the soundtrack is ridiculously hot, with Santogold on the hook and Kanye at the reins. You may want to use the restroom before you watch this…

Living in NY is quite pricey, and with this recession (feels like repression or even regression), people are getting creative to make a few extra bucks. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that there’s been a huge surge in women applying to donate eggs (wsj article). This lady below figured she’d rent an ”extra” room in her apt…
