No, that isn’t the the dude from the Chabad telethon, that’s Woody Allen. On an American Apparel billboard nonetheless. Nosh on this: Allen recently sued the retailer for $10 million after the company used his picture on its billboards in Hollywood and New York and on a Web site (below). He claims the company didn’t have permission. Jewishest lawsuit ever?

Just got back from a very eventful weekend in DC and New York. Spent the night in DC Thursday with my man NEMo and DJ Grant Shapiro for the opening of a salad restaurant I invested in called Sweet Green. It’s our second location with the third opening soon in Bethesda. Took the Chinatown bus from DC to NY on Friday and went out with Guttersnype to the Ruff Club’s 3 year anniversary later that night. We spent much of Saturday recovering yet somehow worked up the energy to make it out for another round of late night madness. Started off at Phillipe’s for dinner and I am proud to say they are opening a location in West Hollywood soon on Melrose Ave.  Later that night we found ourselves at a small bar in Brooklyn called the Candy Shop where everyone was drinking PB&R’s. We later went to Apotheke (above) — this cool speakeasy-type spot where our boy DJ Bobby Nourmand was spinning. From the outside you think your about to walk into a restaurant. While I was pretty depressed when I found out no Jack was to be served, this doctor-type behind the bar eased my suffering with a homemade liquor concoction that was laced with Absinthe. I will be headed to LA on Wednesday with Gilberto for the weekend where the official countdown to Coachella begins… 11 days!

I first heard of PEGLEG NYC from my friend Phil over at Centre about a year ago and have since become a big fan. Below are some items from their Spring ’09 and Summer ’08 collections. Bernard L Madoff pleaded guilty today to 11 counts of fraud, money laundering, perjury and theft. The son-of-a-gun was placed immediately in jail after having his bail revoked. Sentencing is a couple months away but it seems like the story will end without the climax we had hoped for; no trial, no shame, no cursing from distraught ex-clients in the back of the courtroom. Oh Karl, you are such a silly boy! Mr. Lagerfeld unveiled the new Chanel line this past week, which by all accounts is mostly….get this….are you ready….black! Yup, shocking indeed. One new and amazing product that was showcased is this: The Chanel Perspex Briefcase. A modern take on a classic must. Take a closer look, it’s pretty wild: slots for Chanel glasses, Chanel lipstick, Chanel purse, iPod, Chanel perfume. And the best part? It’s super-practical. Naturally. (Image via thecoolhunter.net)

I’m in NYC this weekend and had some of the best sushi ever at Sasabune; the wasabi was like butter and the fish literally melted in my mouth. I headed to Southside after to get my dance on and to meet up with some old friends. Tonight I will be going to the David Byrne show at Radio City Music Hall as always I will keep you posted. Wow! 50 already? Well just shy of it to be exact. The half a century turnover for the plastic icon falls on March 9th. However, the fashion world has decided to celebrate a bit early. This Saturday (Valentine’s Day!) during Fashion Week, she (as in Barbie stand-ins) will get to strut down the catwalk in 50 different ensembles created by some of the most fabulous designers. Some of the styles from the show will head over to the Bloomingdale’s flagship store, where they will be put out for display.

All I hope is that those model stand-ins don’t resemble your current picture. I mean, no offense Barbie, but…… (::whispering::) you’re looking a little old.

Ah, Barbie thank you for all the great times you’ve shown the little ladies of every ethnic backround around the world.

On January 27, 2009 The Lomographic Society is opening The Lomography Gallery Store in New York City. Located in the bustling, historic Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, The Lomography Gallery Store New York will provide the whole range of Lomographic products and services, a wide range of analog photography products, and most exciting of all, special and limited edition cameras only available at Lomography stores. (The doc recently got himself a Diana+ and if I had any skills and could actually take pictures that developed, I’m sure they’d look great).

The Lomography Gallery Store features the largest LomoWall in North America, comprised of 35,000 hand-picked and hand-mounted lomographs. The photographs were collected through an online submission call to Lomographers around the world to show us New York through their eyes and lenses. The result is a mind-blowing experience where visitors can submerge themselves in a sea of spectacular Lomographic images of the Big Apple, while exploring the tools – the Lomography products – that created them.

The new location will serve as the New York Lomography Embassy, as well as a destination point for weekly workshops about cameras, analogue photographic techniques, guest speakers, and neighbourhood LomoJourneys where guests can check out loaner cameras to experience the fun of Lomography first hand.

The store will also serve as a gallery and meeting point, featuring events, parties, and exhibitions, including a stop by the Diana World Tour in November 2009 where hundreds of classic Diana cameras from the 60s & 70s will be on display in the USA for the first time ever.

Honestly I can’t think of another film other than Dark Knight that has gotten me as tingly in the past year as “Notorious” (1/19/2009). This film charts the rise of none other than Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G. From hustlin’ the streets…to sold out seats, Biggie Smalls was the illest. You may even be familiar with some of the drama surrounding the lead role for the film whereby unknown actor Jamal Woolard (above) landed the lead after extra-hard (and questionable) pushes by Beanie Siegel and Sean Kingston–the latter even going as far as having his camp falsely leak info that he had landed the role already.

That said, who better to usher in Biggie’s rags-to-Moet story than Brooklyn’s Finest himself, Young Hova. The first single off the soundtrack is ridiculously hot, with Santogold on the hook and Kanye at the reins. You may want to use the restroom before you watch this…
