No, that isn’t the the dude from the Chabad telethon, that’s Woody Allen. On an American Apparel billboard nonetheless. Nosh on this: Allen recently sued the retailer for $10 million after the company used his picture on its billboards in Hollywood and New York and on a Web site (below). He claims the company didn’t [...]

Just got back from a very eventful weekend in DC and New York. Spent the night in DC Thursday with my man NEMo and DJ Grant Shapiro for the opening of a salad restaurant I invested in called Sweet Green. It’s our second location with the third opening soon in Bethesda. Took the Chinatown bus [...]

Guttersnype is our newest blogger. He recently left Austin, TX and somehow found himself in NYC. You can expect the latest on the NY scene from my man Tommy via his unreal photography skills. Below is a sick shoot he worked on in Austin with our very own Dagnushka. Welcome!

I first heard of PEGLEG NYC from my friend Phil over at Centre about a year ago and have since become a big fan. Below are some items from their Spring ‘09 and Summer ‘08 collections. You can find me wearing my favorite item, my “212″ tank, everywhere in the summer. More pics of their collection after the jump… Peglegnyc.com
Bernard L Madoff pleaded guilty today to 11 counts of fraud, money laundering, perjury and theft. The son-of-a-gun was placed immediately in jail after having his bail revoked. Sentencing is a couple months away but it seems like the story will end without the climax we had hoped for; no trial, no shame, no cursing [...]
Oh Karl, you are such a silly boy! Mr. Lagerfeld unveiled the new Chanel line this past week, which by all accounts is mostly….get this….are you ready….black! Yup, shocking indeed. One new and amazing product that was showcased is this: The Chanel Perspex Briefcase. A modern take on a classic must. Take a closer look, [...]
I’m in NYC this weekend and had some of the best sushi ever at Sasabune; the wasabi was like butter and the fish literally melted in my mouth. I headed to Southside after to get my dance on and to meet up with some old friends. Tonight I will be going to the David Byrne show [...]

Wow! 50 already? Well just shy of it to be exact. The half a century turnover for the plastic icon falls on March 9th. However, the fashion world has decided to celebrate a bit early. This Saturday (Valentine’s Day!) during Fashion Week, she (as in Barbie stand-ins) will get to strut down the catwalk in [...]

Mstrkrft announced today they will be playing at a series of upcoming show (three of which Gilberto and I plan on attending — Dallas 3/20, SXSW 3/21 and Coachella 4/18). I have to admit I was disappointed when I read they agreed to do a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I am not sure how Jesse (below, left) is going to handle a show without chain smoking and drinking his beloved Crown. (Tour dates after the jump)

Honestly I can’t think of another film other than Dark Knight that has gotten me as tingly in the past year as “Notorious” (1/19/2009). This film charts the rise of none other than Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G. From hustlin’ the streets…to sold out seats, Biggie Smalls was the illest. You may even be [...]

Living in NY is quite pricey, and with this recession (feels like repression or even regression), people are getting creative to make a few extra bucks. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that there’s been a huge surge in women applying to donate eggs (wsj article). This lady below figured she’d rent an ”extra” room in her apt…

Bars in NYC will do anything to be a little different…be it a secret entrance, drinks lit on fire, or beverages littered with gold flakes. They’re even thinking outside the box when it comes to what they serve the liquor in. The Back Room tried to create a speakeasy feel by serving drinks in tea [...]
Unmarked entrances, discerning doormen and old-fashioned cocktails are dominating New York’s bar scene.
What’s most interesting about New York’s recent crop of so-called speakeasies is that the discreet, low-key atmosphere so attractive within is actually so rigorously engineered. From The Beatrice Inn, which was originally a speakeasy during the prohibition, to the secret door and kitchen that [...]

America has long been dubbed “The Land of Opportunity.” Even the silliest of silly ideas turn average Joe’s into wealthy entrepreneurs (Pet Rock, anyone?). Two parts idea, one part marketing and three parts timing and…poof! That said, I wasn’t much surprised last weekend in NYC when I came across a brand of water labelled “TAP’D [...]
