After Sir Paul McCartney at Cowboys Stadium tonite, Gilberto will be flying home to LA tomorrow for a short weekend with the family and homeys. Got a few items on the agenda, including dinner at the newly re-opened BOA, scoping out the doc’s new pad (complete with housewarming gift), and Friday night I will finally be heading to new Hollywood hangout Playhouse.

My trip started off in Las Vegas last Sunday for a real estate convention known as ICSC. Our first night out we ran into Aziz Ansari from NBC’s “Parks & Recreation.”  The convention I have to admit was dead, but not bad if you are a pervert looking for a great excuse to leave your girlfriend/wife for a couple days for a “Business Trip.”

By Wednesday I was in LA, and our first night out ended up being kinda slow, highlighted by dinner at tapas hotspot Cobras & Matadors. Thursday afternoon we stopped by the SLS Hotel’s sick poolside to have a few drinks. Unfortunately that evening was a blur after the disappointing loss at Staples Center where I found myself pissed as hell because entire sections were empty and the fans had zero energy. Friday night I headed to nightlife staple “Guys” which is now being run without my favorite door personality Darren D. DJ Devin Lucine was spinning and did not disappoint.

I have never been to Houston before (for a few reasons which we can discuss later) but for a Lakers playoff game you can get me to go almost anywhere. That said, tomorrow Gilberto and I are headed to see the Lakers pound down on the Houston Rockets in the second round of the playoffs. The series is tied 1-1.

Above is a view from our seats. If you are sitting in our section, after the first few minutes you will definitely feel extreme anxiety overcome you, followed by extreme anger, and eventually deep frustration. I cant wait to see y’all tomorrow! Section 124 baby.

I decided to drink away my sorrows last night over at Guys after the Lakers’ disappointing loss to Portland. Darren at the door was nice enough to let me in with four beautiful girls in hand (all of which were taller than me) after the Persian brothers from USC got in. The night got a little better once I finally got inside and the Jack was flowing through my veins.  Rod Stewart was there doing his thing with his son Sean who I went to school with back in the day at El Rodeo. How time flies. My boy DJ Devin Lucien was spinning some good music so I got me dance on for a little.  Gilberto all of the sudden helicoptered in out of nowhere and parachuted down to the courtyard of Guys with a grand entrance that cannot be beat. Unfortunately, before I knew it was 2 am and my four girls turned into one guy. On the way out the paparazzo was snapping some photos so I jumped on the bandwagon and joined them…only problem is I didn’t know who I was taking a picture of. More after the jump…

After spending the majority of my morning behind the computer I decided to meet up with a friend and cruise around town. Our first stop: Opening Ceremony, one of my favorite places to shop whether in LA or NYC. As soon as I walked in I was struck by this beautiful half-naked girl who I could have sworn I recognized from somewhere.

After walking around for a little and going upstairs to Suite 12 trying to find that perfect item for Coachella my friend broke it to me that the half-naked girl was actually Mischa Barton. (Yawn). To be honest, I could care less except that I had to wait behind her to pay at the register. Thank God for the fact that little Hilton was there walking around because I was about to lose it and punch Ms. Barton in the face after having to hear her whiny comments. The girl would not shut up about the paparazzi catching her picture sporting some stupid cream bag that’s worth blah blah blah and how shes normally doesn’t wear blah blah blah and how she is going to get paid for it. As if I’m not already annoyed I had to wait behind her as the girl’s stupid credit card got declined for $7,000! Thinking I couldn’t take it any longer I eventually escaped from the store to avoid her shit. Total buzz kill I tell you. On a good note however I did get some sick shorts and a t-shirt that now that I think about it, is pretty lame. It reads: “Trashin’ ON THE NORTH SHORE IS NOT RAD”. Just another day in sunny LA.

Shoddy Lynn is a Hollywood based DJ/Producer that plays primarily techno/minimal, which her friends call EMO MINIMAL. She calls it bouncy techno.

She’s played along side some of the biggest names in the industry from Sander K, to Mike Monday and started dj-ing after seeing Danny Tenaglia play at Pacha NY. After that experience her life turned upside down and she became obsessed with electronic music. At the beginning she started playing alot of indy rock and electro fused house until she discovered the world of dark techno. Shoddy recently co produced her first album AVANT PUNK, which is out on itunes now, under IMPAKT records and is continuing to release music every day so we highly suggest you check it out.

Highlights so far?
Highlights have been traveling and djing in places like Dubai and Miami and playing for crowds that love to hear my sound. Also, seeing the techno scene in LA grow with new parties and events taking over the town. I feel like LA is the new Ibiza. I can’t wait for this summer and what LA has in store for its electronic music lovers. (Cont. reading more after the jump)

Inspirations and or influences?                                                                          

I am influenced by clubs in general, the lights, sounds and amazing sound systems. I make music for big speakers…so every club influences my production skills and djing techniques.

Best part of wmc 09?
Djing at the Catalina for a day party. Meeting so many amazing djs that i usually just listen to and play their tracks, being able to share a drink with them and talk to them about the weather or whatever comes out at that moment. Miami brings everyone in one place for one week. its amazing that music can bring everyone to one spot to just chill out and hang with one another. Being surrounded by good vibes and good music for one week is always a blessing.

Favorite dj’s ?                                                                                                                   Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin,  & Danny Tenaglia.
They all know how to educate and open your eyes and ears to a sound you may never thought could exist. They are always thinking 10 steps ahead, they don’t abide by the rules. Rules SUCK! Sven plays records from 10 years ago, Richie knows how to ease anyone into techno. Danny is just Danny. You can’t beat doing the soul train at 9am in the morning with a bunch of Studio 54 dropouts.

Favorite venues in the world?
Cielo NY, best sound, best vibe.

in LA, id have to say Avalon, the sound there is epic. Its all about the music for them, and that makes me happy.

Favorite tracks of all time?
that is a VERY hard one. I don’t think i could say of all time, because its ever changing, but right now I’m pretty addicted to Drawing-Revisited by Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann, i also love all Guy Gerbers new stuff, its very melodic and big room techno with killer subs and that euphoric feeling that makes you just let go on the dance floor. I also just found a Bootleg Doors THE END track by Riva Starr its a killer. My favorites are always changing, so just keep up with my charts and that will give you a good idea of overall sound.

Plans for 2009?
Continue creating music, work with djs and labels. Working on the music scene here in LA directly with people such as Compression and Droog, bringing minimal techno to LA in a BIG WAY. Travel, play in Europe hopefully soon. Working on finishing a full length album with Skyler (SHDWPLAY) my production partner. My buddy Andrew Bynum was found this past weekend “partying like a rockstar” at the Playboy mansion. Now I’m no team doctor but if Bynum is well enough to jump ropes and weight-lift playmates he should either be a) traveling with his team pimped-out on the sideline or b) working on his ability to stay healthy for longer than half a season. Going to Hef’s in a green smoking jacket and slippers is a big NO-NO. I’m trying not to be a hater here but the kid has not even given us one good season of pro basketball yet is frolicking around Playboy mansion like he won a championship. Who gives playmates rides on their back like they are the fucking head of a cho-choo train?

All I can say is T-R-A-D-E.

Ahh, how I love LA weather and the abundance of delicious cafes/restaurants – I could however live without the creepy men claiming their fame to “most talented polaroid photographer in the world”.  (thats why we look a bit pissed off) He did a pretty good job though :)

OK, so the phone is not an official Los Angeles Lakers product by any means, but I know my main man Kobe would approve. So would Jerry Buss. Shok made it official the other night that it is time to start thinking about Coachella, so this is the first move I think I’m gonna make on my mission to gear up for the desert. You’ve gotta love LA. The City that Always Sleeps has got a trick up its sleeve – in the form of a new ad campaign. First there was “L.A.’s The Place,” then came “Together We’re The Best,” and lastly it was “See My LA.” Fast forward to 2009, where  LA’s newest slogan seeks to seek a phrase of ridicule into the official mantra of an entire city: “That’s So LA.” According to the www.dailybreeze.com, “The slogan is part of a new $2 million advertising campaign launched by L.A. Inc. – the Visitors and Convention Bureau – and designed to help boost local tourism.” One of the celebrities used of course is Kobe Bryant, which automatically gives this campaign two purple and gold foam fingers up.
