Not sure how we made it to both shows but Dagnushka and I headed to The House of Blues last night to catch a surprise Hoyotoho act and then headed to The Granada to see Ben Kweller. After the Granada we made a visit to the “Basement at Suite” which has transformed into a hipster hangout on Fridays. I have never seen so many 35mm cameras. Tyler from Hoyotoho and Dagnushka and a few others and I danced till we were soaked. I have to give it to whoever is running this spot now (change of ownership) because although the crowd was nothing like it was before (minus the “Suits” add some hipsters downstairs and some ghetto fabulous upstairs) for the first time in years I actually had fun there. Today we found a few lovely ladies to do a photo shoot with and will hopefully be posting video from the Ben Kweller show soon as well. Above are my main men Calvin and Tyler from Hoyotoho.

Not knowing what to expect on Thursday night I started ordering double Jack and sodas before the Santigold show started. The energy for the first time at the HOB (since I could remember) was high and in-your-face. The scene was a mixture of cute girls and ladies (if you want to call them that) that looked like they could kick my ass. Santigold came out with a powerful, energetic performance that ended the same way. Amanda Blank came on stage for a few songs towards the end and was wearing the shortest shorts you could possibly imagine. After the show a friend and I headed to The Cavern for the official after party. Santigold was there with Spank Rock and Amanda Blank and did a short performance. The place was packed, hot, and hipster stinky so we decided to leave thirty minutes before it all ended. On my way home I found a Mexican restaurant on Ross Ave. called Los Arcos. The tacos were amazing and they are open till 3 am daily. It was a sick night at the end of it all — except the fact that Gilberto was missing.

Just got tickets for the Santigold show tonight at The House of Blues Dallas. The doors open at 7pm and the last time I checked there were still tickets available online.  After the show I might head over to The Cavern for the Santigold after party. Tomorrow I am off to LA for the weekend and will be out of commission for a few days. As always I will keep you posted.
