Went to Hailey’s in Denton, Texas to interview and shoot JESSICA 6 formerly from Hercules and Love Affair. We were fortunate enough to have them play this year at our SXSW Backyard Blowout in Austin, Texas so it was definitely a treat to see them again just a few days later in Denton. I wish these guys the best, and am certain they will blow up big. I went for a run today in LA and was playing some of their remixes, and it honestly gets more and more addicting with every play. The Flaming Lips @ NX35 this year were amazing — I’ve never seen them live but their performance was one of the best I’ve ever seen, and the crowd was intense. On Sunday we went back to Denton for the end of the NX35 weekend. We saw the 8-track museum, a rooftop hip-hop show, and enjoyed some free pizza. We ended the night at Rubber Gloves where we saw Neon Indian, Ishi, French Horn Rebellion and others.

What a weekend, here comes SXSW!!!

Last weekend I went out to see my friends in the band’s Neon Indian and Ishi play at Hailey’s, in Denton, TX. The show looked like it was gonna sell out at 8pm and they didn’t even go on until 11:30pm, it was pretty amazing! This time last year Neon Indian was but a beginning, now in 2010 they’ve seen and toured the world, been mentioned on the national news, and have a fan following that seems to growing by the minute. They aren’t the only band making waves though, Ishi is just another example of the growing music scene in Dallas, TX, despite the citiy government’s blatantly obvious hatred for it, and anything creative. Ishi’s sound is a finely tuned dancing machine, that infects anyone that hears it. I even found myself dancing in the middle of photographing them! Look for big things coming from these two bands in the future!

This Old House

I’ve been traveling out to Denton, TX a lot over the past week for one reason or another, and was there Tuesday for YEAHDEF’s, 90’s Night One Year Anniversary. Before heading to Hailey’s (where 90’s night was), we went to a house show/party nearby. This Old House was one of the bands performing and I happen to be there to catch them play right when they were going on. I loved the smoothness to they’re music, the rhythm was flawless. I definitely recommend everyone check these guys out!

DENTRON – [ DALLAS vs DENTON ]

Last night in Denton was crazy good. A lot of Dallas people made it out to Hailey’s for the Dallas vs. Denton DJ showdown. Dallas triumphantly destroyed Denton. After the show we headed down the street from Hailey’s to an afterparty that lasted all night. I forgot the name of the band that was playing but they were dressed up in blood and masks and had a violinist which was badass. Check out the rest of the shots from last night HERE
