So last week we made it out to the HOYOTOHO Videopera Release Party which had a great turnout. It was the first time in years I think I drank Vodka as thats all they had and I wont lie I liked it. As you will see below in the video these guys poured their heart and soul into every song. I really have to give mad love to Tim K. who put the video together and Calvin Bradley the lead singer as these guys really pulled off a stellar show. So last Wednesday was my pre-birthday party at The ISH w/ Parker Lawson & John Michael!!!  Thanks to everyone for coming out and celebrating with me, I had a lot of fun going crazy and dancing!  My new bosses over at 944 Magazine also got me a $150 gift card for Ghostbar so I managed to drink the night away, thanks guys!  See the rest of the photos from my crazy night HERE!!

Scardello is one of Dallas’ BEST cheese shops!  I had the honor of being invited to the shop for a running competition they have been having between different regions of the world that have similar cheeses.  Last weeks competitor’s were the WEST COAST vs. SPAIN, with the West Coast demolishing Spain.  With each cheese matching from either region there were specific wines paired with them.  I found that I didn’t know very much on cheese or the wine but as the class/competition progressed my knowledge and conversation on the subject grew.  We were told to use our 4 senses: TOUCH, SMELL, TASTE, & SIGHT, to judge the different cheeses. At first it was hard trying to use different adjectives and likenesses to describe them, but after awhile it came easy.  This is probably the funnest, not to mention most informative, wine/cheese tasting I’ve ever had!  The staff and presentation was perfect, it couldn’t have been presented better!  I recommend SCARDELLO CHEESE SHOP to any and everyone who has a passion for fine cheese and wine, only the best is hand-picked to be in this shop!

2-and-a-half years after Shok tricked me into moving to Dallas over a model-drenched Nick n Sam’s dinner, I am sad to say Gilberto will be moving back to California this coming weekend. It has been an incredible run, filled with Jack-fueled nights, visits to SUITE three times a week, many-a ISH Wednesday, Lakers dominating the lowly Mavs, lots of duck and filet at Bob’s Chop House, SXSW adventures (above, 2008), memorable quotes (“No Way!”), skulls and even more stripes, and a friendship that will carry on in Los Angeles in a few months. Last night I attended the ten year anniversary event of one of Dallas’ favorite clothing hot spots Forty-Five Ten. The party was really amazing. For one thing they had a secret bottle of Jack Daniels at the back bar so I instantly fell in love with everything. The music was bumping, and the appetizers provided by Cassandra Catering were delicious. We met designers Narciso Rodriguez, and Thakoon, and also ran into our good friend Judy Aldridge who was with her partner in crime from BagSnob. I made it over to V.O.D. for the second time in a couple weeks last Thursday night to check out an exclusive trunk show featuring the jewelry of model (and Texas native!) Erin Wasson. Unveiled was her new line, LowLuv, and guests were spotted purchasing pieces and declining bags instead preferring to wear out their spoils. I went ahead and purchased a stunning two-tier chain link necklace for my newly-engaged sister. Finally met store owner (and Helloooooo fan) Jackie, who was busy entertaining guests and glowing with excitement at the turnout.

Sounds were provided by ‘THE ISH’ regular Blake Ward and a friend (below). The party spilled out onto the streets of Victory Park, where bartenders from my favorite restaurant in Dallas, Victor Tango’s, were serving their signature beverage for patrons. (Take a wild guess where we went for dinner after….!)

The ISH this week was a special one, not for the mere reason that it took place on a Tuesday night instead of our regular Wednesday night, but because it was a DJ Battle Royal sponsored Red Bull, an open bar, and none other than DJ CRAZE spinning and judging, arguably the best DJ in the world!  I’ve never seen Ghostbar as packed as it was, not even when Aoki or Mickey Avalon played.  The open bar definitely got everyone loosened up and above was our spinning DJ winner of the night!  Check out the rest of the photos HERE!

The Burkman Bros website describes Doug and Ben Burkman as the creators of “a distinctive, casual menswear line that is strong, sexy and never gratuitous.” To me, they make really cool but really really short button down shirts. Regardless, the ambiguously plaid duo is coming to Barney’s New York in Northpark this Saturday March 27, 2010 from 12 – 4pm. Come meet them and tell them how cool they are.
