For this edition of [Archive Tuesday], it is only fitting we pay homage to one of the most beautiful actresses of Hollywood’s Golden Era, Rita Hayworth. Regarded by many as the era’s greatest sex symbol, Rita appeared in over 61 films in her 37 year career, but none was more memorable than Gilda. Her performance in this 1946 black-and-white film noir raised the eyebrows of censors at the time — specifically for her famed one-glove striptease while performing ”Put The Blame On Me” in a sultry silk dress.
Rita Hayworth’s legacy unfortunately also lives on unfortunately for a more somber reason — her lost battle with Alzheimer’s. This past weekend, some friends and I — including Shok, Ms. Gilberto and Jane Aldridge of seaofshoes.com — had the fortune of attending Dallas’ inaugural Alzheimer’s Association Rita Hayworth Gala, aptly titled “Gilda.” The glamorous event at The Ritz-Carlton raised money towards research in ending this tragic disease that affects both those diagnosed and their caregivers. It was a very memorable evening that undoubtedly raised awareness and support for the cause.

It’s “Put the Blame on Mame” not “on me”
