A Bidding War

Last night was the debut of Mallori Morris’ art show, ‘Desnuda Debut,’ and it couldn’t have gone any better. The two day event was kick started at 3200 Thomas with a live performance from our very own Hoyotoho and as usual, they killed it. The art itself was something out of an exhibit. As soon as I walked in I was picturing putting all these pieces on my walls. As an art show rookie, though, I had to learn about art bidding the hard way: First off never invite a friend to the show who a) has good taste or b) can outspend you. You might just find yourself in a bidding war with your best friend.  Secondly, don’t be in such a rush to put up your first bid because you may as well bid against yourself. Scope the scene, stay cool, and (obviously) try to be the last one to bid. Third and most importantly, try to stay sober. There is a reason the wine is free and flowing like water as you walk in. Hopefully tonight I can get in some last minute bids and walk away with my favorite piece above: ‘Desnuda’.
