I got a chance to see ‘The Crystal Method’ live for the first time at SXSW at the 508 house right before Aoki and Barnes went on and I was impressed by their energy and style. This duo that is originally from Las Vegas formed the band in Los Angeles in ’93 out of a bomb shelter which was literally in the front yard of a rented house they once shared as roommates. After hearing president-elect Barack Obama’s acceptance speech, the duo was inspired to remix “Now is the Time” (Vote ’08 Remix) with sound bites from the speech.
