I love airports for three main reasons: being able to drink a lot without having to drive, starting fake fights with random folks in my head, and all-strawberry Mentos. But all-strawberry Mentos? There must be a god. Or just someone on the conglomerate-that-owns-Mentos’ Board that is looking out for the little guy. So chewy, so refreshing, so pink. Such a no-brainer. And if not mistaken they are only sold at the airport. I’ve never seen them anywhere else, and it’s always such a treat to grab a pack or two along with my required Aquafina (the only water sold) and copy of The New Yorker (because the cartoons are great).
But even as I chew away in world of berry-ridden heaven I never can help but think one thing: Why the hell doesn’t Starburst take the hint and do the same? Everyone knows pink is the best and orange we just eat because it’s good enough. (We don’t even talk about red and yellow–absolutely terrible). Mentos obviously got this memo a while back and has since garnered tremendous praise (read: one blog post) for the move. Much love to the original “Freshmaker.” Holla.
