Dazzle My Basel

So the three of us made our way down to South Beach this past weekend for The Art Basel festivities and somehow all made it back alive. The weekend kick-started on Thursday night with us wining and dining at Joe Allen’s and ended Saturday night with a MSTRKRFT show that left me in disarray, and dreaming I committed myself into therapy.  Along the way we met the famous blogger TheArabParrot(.com) who i admire, but think possibly might be related to Osama Bin Laden.

On Friday we spent the first half of the day on the beach which was infested with everything from jelly fish to fat, greasy Latin men and women yelling “Papi” this and “Papi” that. We later decided to head to the hotel pool bar and grab a quick drink when TNT decided to take a quick dip in the pool. He quickly realized half of the water was filled with chlorine and got out because his eyelashes began to disintegrate. The hotel bar as you can see looked as if we were stuck in Rwanda somewhere… and the guy standing in front didn’t speak a word of English. I really have to hand it to Starwood and The Sheraton Four Points for a job well done… (FYI we left you a little treat in the trash bin courtesy of Mr. Lones).

Thom Browne in Miami

Shortly after leaving the hotel we spotted none other than Thom Browne himself wearing those goofy cut off pants…. if you remember ‘the doc’ wrote about this a few weeks back.

Anyway, after spotting Mr. Shorty Pants and having lunch at a local book store, we decided to head over to Art Basel in the Design District. The first exhibit we hit was ‘Fashion Photo’ which specialized in photography of all kinds from around the world. The atmosphere itself was pretty insane. Tucked under a freeway overpass it was outfitted to the extreme as if you were at a runway show.

About 5 hours later… and after schmoozing our way into every show for free (thanks to yours truly) we decided to call it a day. Nemo and TNT headed back to their prestigious Four Points Sheraton Hotel, and I myself met up with our beloved tour guide who decided to show me the backsides of South Beach, and all it has to offer. Minus the grease.
