It has been raining in LA lately and I’m wishing that A) I already had this or B) It even existed to begin with (I can’t find it for sale anywhere). Nonetheless, LightDrops, designed by Sang-Kyun Park, is an umbrella that uses the piezoelectric effect of polyvinylidene fluoride to transform falling rain into electricity, which in turn is used to light small LED’s on the umbrella’s underside. The harder the rain falls, the brighter the light shines. Sweet.
